The Intake Division is the initial contact for youths entering the Juvenile Court system. This division maintains full-time Intake Officers, and a Records Officer.

The Assistant District Attorney reviews all petitions and allegations of delinquency. If it is accepted by the A.D.A., the Records Officer then processes the allegations and petition and schedules the Interview. This is with the offender and parent/ guardian, to obtain and share information pertinent to the specific case. The Intake Officer then reviews all available information and recommends the most appropriate initial disposition of the case. The philosophy behind the recommendation is to hold the youth accountable, ensure public safety and develop the client's personal competence.

The Intake Officer acts as a liaison between the Juvenile Probation Department, Law Enforcement Officers and the community. Once the cases have been processed through Intake, the Intake Officer has the responsibility of assigning the case to the appropriate Line Staff Probation Officer. The Intake Department is responsible for data entry of information collected at the Intake Interview, laying the groundwork for the pre-sentence investigation.
