Crime Victim Center

The Crime Victim's Center is a non-profit organization that offers services to victims and witnesses of crime. In the Juvenile Probation Department, these services are offered to victims of juvenile crime. There are two victim advocates stationed in Juvenile Probation that offer assistance with claim and impact forms, case and restitution questions, counseling, and court accompaniment. The advocates can also answer questions regarding the Juvenile Justice System and court appearances.

With the passing of Act 86, victims of violent crime have the right to

•Be notified of hearings.

•Be accompanied to juvenile court proceedings.

•Submit prior comment about charges and disposition of the case.

•Be notified of the disposition of the case.

•Be notified if the child is committed to a residential facility.

•Upon request, victims can be notified of home passes, Formal Review hearings, escape from a court ordered facility, discharge from the facility, and the closing of the juvenile's case.
