Call to Order: 10:00 am
John Grappy, Director of Public Safety, opened the meeting by thanking everyone for volunteering their time to serve on the committee and explaining how important this committee is.
Phil Fatica a member of County Council and the Liaison to Public Safety introduced himself and thanked everyone for volunteering on the committee.
John went over the power point explaining the mission, purpose, duties, goals of the committee.
Kale Asp, 9-1-1 Coordinator, was the next presenter and he explained the operations of 9-1-1/Communications at Erie County Public Safety. He talked about the new Administrative Operations positions, Demographics of the department, Call Processing and Dispatch Operations.
John was the next presenter and he explained Current and Future Technologies for Erie County Public Safety. This would be the Northern Tier Network 10 County Consortium, the Erie County Next Generation Radio Project and Text-To-9-1-1 Services.
Abdul Osman, Information Technology Systems Manager, was the next presenter and he explained the County IT Organizational Chart, the Staff Matrix, SWOT Analysis (planning method used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats involved in a project) and the CAD Virtualization Project.
Dale Robinson, Emergency Management Coordinator, talked about Emergency Management staff and the volunteer groups, the disaster preparedness cycle, coordination, PA Act 165, LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) and Hazmat.
John mentioned upcoming events:
Erie County Next Generation Radio System Project Update at Perry Highway Hose Company Station 43, Oliver Road on Tuesday, May 26th from 6pm-8pm.
Public Safety Open House at Erie County Public Safety Saturday, September 26, 2015. Also the Erie County Bar Association, with a team of 15 lawyers from Wills for Heroes, will be doing wills free for all of Public Safety in Erie County.
The Executive Board will be elected at the next organization meeting. This will be the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and the Subcommittee Chairpersons.
A tour of the Public Safety Facility was offered and meeting was adjourned at 11:35 am.
