The LMO! Passport program is a collaborative effort of the Erie County Department of Health, Erie Yesterday, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wegmans and VisitErie, as part of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. It weaves together art, heritage and healthy living. The overarching goal of the program is to promote outdoor physical activity to people of all ages who live in Erie County.

The LMO! Passport highlights fifteen trails throughout Erie County that can be used for walking/biking. Follow along with your LMO! Passport for trail maps, trail information, local history content and other interesting things to see and do within each trail community. You can pick your passport up at locations throughout Erie County year-round, so you can hit the trails for some winter activities too!

While venturing out on the trails, search for a trail marker placed near the middle of each trail. This will serve two purposes: help to identify the trail as a passport trail and present necessary pass key information. Local artist Tom Ferraro designed and constructed fifteen public art pieces which serve as the LMO! trail markers. Using methods he learned as a residency artist, Mr. Ferraro engaged youth from each trail community in the design process.

How does it work?

STEP #1: Walk, run or bike the passport’s 15 trails and find the one artist designed marker located along each trail. A unique 10-digit pass key is displayed on each trail marker. Once you find a marker, record the pass key in your passport booklet. (Remember to take a pen or pencil with you!)

STEP #2: Register on the program website You can log in to the website at any time and enter pass keys. After entering all 15 pass keys online, you are automatically entered into the grand prize drawing.

Submit your completed passport at the Service Desk of any Wegmans store in Erie County. After submitting your completed passport with all 15 pass keys recorded, you are automatically entered into the grand prize drawing.

*The program runs June 1 through October 31, 2015. Grand prize winners will be drawn and awarded by November 30. (Let’s Move Outside! Erie County Recreational Passport rules and guidelines can be found at You could win a mountain bike or one of several other great prizes.
