US 6N Study
In September of 2005, the Erie MPO identified the need for regional upgrades of several urban-rural corridors in south and southeast Erie County, including US 6N. That same year the communities of Edinboro, Franklin Township, and Washington Township adopted a multi-municipal comprehensive plan. As a result of those planning initiatives, the Erie MPO and PennDOT, collaborated with the Erie County Department of Planning to develop the US 6N Corridor: Land Use & Transportation Study which focused on the those portions of the US 6N corridor located in Washington Township and Edinboro.
Completed in 2008, the study established the current conditions of the transportation network and land use development along the corridor, projected the future conditions in the area, and produced a locally derived, community driven 'Project Action Plan' for improvement.
